Jay Z’s drug dealing past has taught him business and wisdom
It’s true! One of the richest men in the music history has admitted to selling drugs on the streets of New York City, back in the 1980s. Jay Z claims he knows budgets due to being a drug dealer, and we quote:
“To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you can re-up. But, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small. You’re going to get locked up or you’re going to die.”

Even though he says he owes his business skills to drug dealing, he also regrets being a part of the drug problem. “Not until later, when I realized the effects on the community, I started looking at the community as a whole, but in the beginning no,” he says.

Either way, today Jay Z is a person that speaks about the misconception of drug addiction. In his words, he explains the underlying reasons addicts continue using the drug, that addiction is a disease that needs medical help, and how addiction is poorly understood and stigmatized by society.
