Even before he became a Judiciary chairman, Joe Biden has sought to take the lead on drug policy, called for the creation of a national “Drug Czar,” and has crafted laws to control narcotics. Although his proposed measures ware widely viewed as a failure, he hardly ever abandoned his views, saying:
“There’s a difference between sending someone to jail for a few ounces and legalizing it. The punishment should fit the crime. But I think legalization is a mistake. I still believe it’s a gateway drug. I’ve spent a lot of my life as chairman of the Judiciary Committee dealing with this. I think it would be a mistake to legalize.”

Then came the idea of banning smoking in public places nation wide, in order to reduce chronic illnesses. But, it won’t really stop those who want to light a cigarette from smoking…right?!
