Lol how does using morphine cause HIV/AIDS? I was reading along and thinking wow morphine can cause a lot of unwanted side affects both short term and ling term ,but then I got to the one that states it cause HIV/AIDS and I just laughed. Your site is comparative to the movie REEFER MADNESS that was made to scare people away from smoking pot. What a crock of crap. Thanks for wasting everyones time here.

Hi Kim. Transmission of diseases such as HIV/AIDS and hepatitis B and C among drug abusers who use needles to inject the drug is possible.

My Mom is on oral morphine through hospice (severe back arthritis) she is 92. I’ve noticed she is very insulting toward family members and isn’t factual about things and mean at times (verbally) is this normal?

Hi Annie. I suggest that you consult with her doctors. Morphine may be the cause on changing behaviors.

I’ve had 5 back surgeries over 17 years, with two of those surgeries failed. I’ve also been on hydrocodone 10/325 for those 17 years with Fentanyl 100 mg thrown in there for about 5 or 6 years. I weaned myself off Fentanyl but am still taking hydro 4 times a day.. One of those failed back surgeries gave me neuropathy in both of my feet. I can’t hardly walk, sit or do anything but lay in bed.. I know I’ve got kidney failure and a radiologist saw cirrhosis of the liver in an MRI I had done in 2014. I don’t know how I can live if they pass this new law against narcotics. Do you have any suggestion?

Was on large dose VA prescribed morphine for 12 years. Stopped taking it Sept 2017
Wondering now what long term use does to mind and body after the fact?
