We can safely put him at the moderate end, although his stand in the past used to be more radical than you can imagine.

In this infographic we present some of Donald Trump’s drug-related quotes that give you a better picture of his views. Do you agree or not? Opinion on drug legalization

Back in 1990, Trump called the U.S. drug enforcement policy “a joke”, saying:

“We’re losing badly the war on drugs. You have to legalize drugs to win that war. You have to take the profit away from these drug czars.”

But, that was back then! What are Trump’s views today? Now that his radical stand for legalization of cocaine, heroin, and meth is in the past, his view even on marijuana seems rather different:

“I say [recreational marijuana legalization] is bad. Medical marijuana is another thing, but I think it’s bad, and I feel strongly about it.”

….referring to Colorado and Oregon’s experiment with marijuana legalization.

Opinions on alcoholism

Trump openly shared a personal story about his brother’s addiction to alcohol that eventually ended fatally after years of struggle. It certainly made a deep impact on the candidate, and further proves that addiction can occur in anyone, in any family, regardless of upbringing and wealth. Through a retrospect he remembered:

“My brother Fred was a great guy. He had everything. I mean, the most handsome guy, and then he got hooked — and there was nothing, there was nothing we could do about it.”
