Another very important purpose of drug testing is to help address substance abuse problems within a business. But one of the primary reasons why employers send their employees for drug screening is to protect their business from the damage that drugs can inflict. Additionally, there are several reasons why some companies insist on drug testing their employees and these include:

Ativan Detection On Drug Tests

How long does Ativan stay in your system? The answer is relate to the amount of time lorazepam stays in your system and is metabolized. The average half-life of Ativan (on the FDA label for Ativan) in unconjugated lorazepam in human plasma is about 12 hours and for its major metabolite, lorazepam glucuronide, about 18 hours. Peak concentrations in plasma occur approximately 2 hours following administration.

Still, Ativan is detectable at various times according to the type of sample used in a drug test. Common samples and their detection times follow.

Urine: Ativan is detectable on a urine test between 4 and 9 days after the last use.
Hair: If you took Ativan even once and do a hair test, the results will show heroin presence even after 3 months of your last use.
Saliva: Oral fluid tests detect Ativan presence 8 hours after your last use.
Blood: Ativan shows on a blood test after your 3 days last use.

Factors

The results from your drug screening do not solely depend on the time you last took Ativan. The list of factors that can vary the detection window for lorazepam include your:

  • Body mass
  • Food intake
  • Frequency of use
  • Hydration
  • Liver function
  • Metabolic rate
  • Sex
