Hi Sara. I attended a weekend open house at the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, FL (http://www.hippocratesinst.org/) and saw there that the do multiple TYPES of juices over the course of the day. No ONE juice was repeated more than 2-3 times throughout the day. Perhaps you might approach a liver detox the same way, and use a combination of juices. But before trying, perhaps you can consult with a nutritionist at Whole Foods and let us know!

These recipes look great - has anyone tried using these during a 3-day juice cleanse? If so, which would you recommend to do for the 8 ounces per hour? I heard doing 64 ounces a day, 8 an hour is the best way. I'd like to juice myself or order it from a place like Whole Foods.
Please let me know!
Thanks

That is such a great point, Michael. And a good starting point for some medical trials. You can search the PubMed database to see any such trials have already been completed.

Has anyone ever compared an analysis of liver enzymes from blood work done before detox juicing to after the detoxifying? This seems to be the only real way to see if the liver functions improved and the enzymes returned to normal levels.

Whole Foods has an unbelievable selection of fresh, unpasteurized juices. I am drinking the Carrot Beet Ginger one as I type, and have a Carrot, Beet, Kale, Wheatgrass in the fridget. They are about $4 each for 16oz so if you're not a regular juicer, these are a great option.

Hi Carol. I my experience, juicing works best with a well balanced diet. I find also that I like drinking my juices on an empty or hall-full stomach. But that's just me.

Hi Frikkie. Daily dose and frequency of juicing will really depend upon the person. I'd suggest that you consult with a nutritionist in order to set up a juicing calendar to achieve nutritional goals.

I also find carrot + beet juice to be one of the best detoxifying juices. You wouldn't believe it, but I actually blogged about the same recipe earlier today before reading this post! What a coincidence LOL! This is a great list of juicing recipes and definitely handy for those interested in detoxing from alcohol or drug abuse.
