Is not heroin [diacetylmorphine] a sedative? It is the same classification. & cocaine itself is a stimulant, did you mean to seperate amphetamines from cocaine? Psychotherapy is a treatment, & may be followed by drugs. But these are NOT illicit drugs [though they may be illicitly abused or misused.] I am not exactly sure how this list is organised.

Is the above list compliled according to volume or severity of addiction? And is it accepted that people become “addicted” to weed?

HERION SHOULD BE NUMBER 1. IT IS THE WORSE. THE ONLY THING I DIDNT DO WAS CRACK OR SHOOT-UP BUT DAMN HEROIN AKA “BOY” WAS AWFUL TO TRY AND GET OFF. I ALMOST DIDNT MAKE IT COLD TURKEY AND WENT TO ONE OF MY GUYS AND HE TRIED TO CHARGE $280 A G FOR SOME WHITEBOY CAUSE HE LEARNED HOW TO CUT IT. GLAD HE WAS GREEDY CAUSE THE WORST DAY OFF WITHDRAWL I WOULDNT OF MADE IT. I ONLY STARTED BOY CAUSE I GOT HOOKED ON OC’S AND BOY WAS CHEAPER AND EASIER TO FIND FOR ME.

AND FOR ALL U KIDS, IT ALWAYS STARTS OUT CHEAP AND FUN. I USED TO GET 500 OC 40 FOR $12.50 OR CREDIT AND I DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT THEY WERE. KARMA COMES FULL CIRCLE. THERE IS NO WORSE LONGER WITHDRAWLS. A $300 A DAY HABIT FOR ME AND MY GIRL AND I USED TO BE A REAL BALLER BUT BEEN TO PRISION TWICE AND NOW HAVE KIDS. PRISION JUST MAKES U A BETTER CRIMINAL AND GOOD LUCK GETTING A JOB. U CAN EVEN SURVIVE ON ALOT ALONE. BUT TRY TO KEEP A FAMILY. STAY CLEAN. I QUIT BUT NOW IM BROKE.

Truby – Me, too! But thankfully heroin is still down there. I imagine that mortality rates are the most high for this class of drug, but I’d like to find out. Will include in a future Top 10 piece.

Amanda – Thanks for asking! Heroin is a type of opiate, but the Substance Abuse Health and Services Administration (part of Health and Human Services who sponsored the study) seems to think that heroin consumers are a large enough group outside the general classification of “opiates” to warrant its own category.

It is surprising to see that pain relievers and sedatives aren’t higher on this list, considering the recent surge in prescription drug addictions.

I’m not entirely drug-savy but wouldn’t opiates be one of the top addictions? Or is that already classified? I don’t know and I don’t mind to show ignorance in order to find out.

I am supprised to se Heroin at number eight. However, each of these drugs can be controlled or cured by first changing your mind set by the renewing of your mind. Drug addiction has become the biggest problem that we face today, but it can be cured.
